To guarantee the right to the Basic Food Basket Aid, you must be registered with CadÚnico – the Single Registry for Social Programs, a Federal Government mechanism aimed at identifying and characterizing the socioeconomic situation of low-income families.
If your family has not yet registered, it is important to register in order to participate in the government's Social Programs.
In March 2022, the app was launched Single Registry, offering a new way to pre-register for those who are not registered and wish to register.
Although pre-registration is a first step, it is necessary to appear in person at a service point. Single Registry in your municipality within 240 days.

Each state has its own rules for granting basic food basket assistance, but the only condition common to all is to be registered in CadÚnico.
Furthermore, in general, those who can count on the basic food basket assistance include workers in alternative and school transport, street vendors and market vendors, motorcycle taxi drivers, taxi drivers, app drivers, buggy drivers, tourist guides and traffic document dispatchers.
How does the Basic Food Basket Aid work in São Paulo?
The government of São Paulo is implementing an important initiative to help vulnerable families in the state.
The SP Basic Food Basket Aid consists of the distribution of 50 thousand food cards in the amount of R$ 100 each.
These cards can be used directly in supermarkets in SP, allowing the purchase of food, fruits, vegetables and greens.
The benefit is aimed at families that are most socially vulnerable, identified by the Single Registry (CadÚnico) of social benefits.
Currently, the state government distributes approximately two million basic food baskets every month to families in vulnerable situations.
However, the 50,000 families receiving the food card will not receive the closed physical basket in the month in which they receive the benefit, as reported by the responsible department.
It is important to highlight that the cards have a specific purpose: the exclusive purchase of food and essential items.
The purchase of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products is not permitted, unlike food cards distributed by private companies to employees.
This measure aims to ensure that aid is effectively directed to meet the basic needs of beneficiary families, helping to address the situation of social vulnerability in São Paulo.
Rio de Janeiro
If you are in Rio de Janeiro or Niterói, stay tuned for the R$ 500 basic food basket assistance. Here are the latest updates:
- Families outside the Single Registry with children in the municipal network earn an additional R$ 500;
- Since September, families with enrolled children have received basic food baskets in Niterói (until the end of the school year);
- Beneficiaries of Busca Ativa will receive assistance for another two months;
- Individual Microentrepreneurs (MEIs), taxi drivers and those registered in the Empresa Cidadã Program will receive the last installment in July.
