How to register for Bolsa Família 2024?

To get on the benefit bandwagon, it's simple: if the amount of money per person in your household does not exceed half the minimum wage per person per month and the family is already on the CadÚnico (that register that the government uses to find out who needs help in Brazil), it's all in the game.
Registering doesn't cost anything and you can do it at the CRAS in your area or anywhere that registers with CadÚnico. It's the town halls that take care of this, so that's where it happens.
When registering, the head of the family has to bring it with them:
- Photo ID (can be CPF, which is the most requested);
- Proof of where you live; e,
- Everyone's documents from home (CPF, birth or marriage certificate, ID, work permit or voter registration).
But here's an idea: joining Bolsa Família 2024 is not a snap. The government takes a look at the program's accounts before giving the go-ahead.
In a nutshell:
- First of all, go to your nearest CRAS, the Social Assistance Reference Center;
- When you get there, ask to be part of the Single Registry, okay?
- Then just wait for them to update your information in the system;
- Just a note: this process can take a while, okay? On average, it takes about 45 days for them to confirm the data you've sent to the Unified Registry.
