Want to learn how to mute stories? After all, have you ever felt that thing where you can't bear to see someone's posts on Instagram anymore?
You can unfollow or block the person, but sometimes this can hurt, especially if it's a relative or close friend.
An alternative solution is to hide the person's posts without unfollowing them, this option applies to both stories and posts in the Instagram feed.

How to mute stories on Instagram?
To mute the stories of someone you follow:
- Open your Instagram;
- Find the story of the person you want to silence;
- Tap and stay close to her story;
- Click “mute”
- A box will appear and then select “Mute stories”
To mute posts from someone you follow:
- Open the Instagram;
- Find the person's story;
- Tap on her story and hold;
- Click “Mute”.
- A box will appear, so select “Mute stories and posts”
Another way to mute both the story and the posts is to open the person's profile, click on the “following” button, a box will open -> click on “mute” -> select the option you want to mute.
How to hide your story from someone?
1. Open Instagram on your cell phone: Tap your photo in the bottom right corner to go to your profile. Then, tap the three little lines in the top right corner to open the menu.
2. Scroll down until you find “Who can see your content”:Tap “Hide Stories and Live Streams” to start blocking someone from Stories.
3. Tap “Hide story” to see how to block people in stories: This will take you to the page where you can block someone from seeing your stories.
4. Enter the username of the person you want to block in stories in the search field.
Another way is to go to the story you posted, click on the three dots in the bottom right corner -> Story settings -> hide story from (and select the people you want no see your story).
When I hide my story on Instagram, will people know?
No, Instagram doesn't warn you if you've hidden your story from someone. But remember: this person can still see your posts in their feed and interact with your profile.
Can you tell if someone hid the story from me?
There may be some clues, but there's no way to be sure. Just look:
1. If the stories of someone who used to post have disappeared for you, but the other posts continue to appear;
2. If a friend sent you a story about the person, but it said “Story not available”.
However, this message also appears when the story expires, or is only for Best Friends or if it has been deleted.
Can I mute stories from people who don't follow me on Instagram?
You can hide stories from people who don't follow you on Instagram, go to settings and add the profile to the “Hide story and live video from” list.
But even so, those who don't follow you can still see your feed, reels and interact with your profile.
If you want more control over who sees your stuff, it's best to leave your Instagram profile private.
This way, only the followers you choose will be able to see what you share.
What is the difference between hiding and muting a story on Instagram?
Muting stories means you won't see what someone shares.
Hiding a story means not letting a specific person see what you post on the social network (specifically in the story).
What if I want to show my story to people again? Yes it does! Just remove people from the “Hide story and live video from” list. They will be able to see your stories from the last 24 hours, but they won't be able to see what you posted during the lockdown.
Reactivate someone's Story/Posts
To reactivate and see someone's story and/or publications again, but go to the silenced person's profile, click on the “Following” button, a box will open, click on “Mute”.
There the options “Publications” / “Stories” / “Notes” will appear. And you can choose which one leaves the mute option activated and which one it turns off.
