Controlling smart TVs and TV boxes just got easier with a remote control app. A significant advantage is the convenience of typing using the mobile keyboard, which is much faster and more intuitive than the keyboards on smart TVs.
There are options offered by the manufacturers themselves, such as Roku, and also third-party solutions, such as universal remote control apps.
So check out the following 5 free remote control apps for Android and iPhone (iOS) and discover alternatives to downloading the TV remote control to your cell phone.

Online remote control application: 5 options

1. Remote
Remote is a remote control application designed for Samsung TVs.
Available for Android and iPhone (iOS), the app offers an elegant and intuitive interface, entirely in Portuguese, making it easy to navigate the features.
It's worth highlighting the virtual touchpad, which even makes it possible to control games on the TV.
It's important to note that Remote is not an official application from the South Korean manufacturer, which means that some TV models may not be compatible.
However, all devices manufactured from 2017 onwards, and most between 2014 and 2016, are supported by this remote control alternative developed by Kraftwerk 9.
2. Smartify
Smartify is a remote control application designed for LG devices, compatible with all the brand's smart TV models.
The connection is established by entering a PIN code.
While most of the features are only available in the paid version, which includes typing on the mobile keyboard, accessing applications and controlling video playback, the free version still offers useful functionalities.
With this version, you can access settings, adjust the volume and quickly navigate to the LG TV home screen, simplifying the use of the device.
It's worth noting that the app is not official, but has versions for Android and iOS.
3. Smart TV
Want to make life easier when it comes to controlling your Smart TV? The guys at CodeMatics Media Solutions have created a Remote Control app that's only for Android.
The idea is that it works like a universal remote control, covering a whole host of famous brands. It's not just Samsung and LG, no! There's Sony, TCL, AOC, Chromecast, and a whole bunch more.
You can do the basics, like changing channels and adjusting the volume, but there are also some more advanced tricks, like a touchpad so you can navigate as if it were a mouse.
And the best part: it's free! But, you see, in exchange for that, the app throws some ads on the screen while you use it. Modern life has its ups and downs, right?
4. Remote Universal TV

Remote Universal TV is a universal remote control application. Despite the name suggesting otherwise, it is not compatible with all brands of TV sets.
Currently, the app only works with Samsung TVs (from the C series onwards) and LG (the entire WebOS TV series). However, the developer promises to add support for more brands soon.
With this platform, you can have full control over the smart TV's features, including volume adjustments, channels, settings and the search field.
Some features are paid for, and the free version includes ads. In addition, the application is available exclusively for iPhone devices.
5. Roku
The Roku app takes on the role of official remote control for devices equipped with the Roku OS system.
With it, you can search using your smartphone's keyboard, add channels to the media center directly from your phone and even mirror content from your phone to your TV, offering a wide range of features.
One outstanding feature is private listening, which allows you to play streaming channels and live free-to-air TV channels through headphones connected to your cell phone or tablet. The app is free and available for Android and iPhone devices.
